An easy, good-value family villa near Barbati
Emerald Bay is the sensible, good-value way into the north-east coast: a relaxed three-bedroom family villa above Barbati for six, with a private pool and a rate — around €200 a night — that opens this famously expensive corner of Corfu to ordinary holidaymakers. It makes no claim to be a trophy; it is a comfortable, unpretentious base within reach of one of the island's best beaches, and that is precisely its appeal. Barbati's long turquoise sweep under Mount Pantokrator, its watersports and its easygoing beach bars are a short way down the hill, and the whole north-east — Nissaki, Kalami, Kassiopi — is an easy drive along the coast.
Three bedrooms sleeping six, with a private pool and an easy, informal layout built for a relaxed family week rather than for show.
At roughly €200 a night it is the entry-level rate on this coast, and the value is the point — a private pool and Barbati on your doorstep without the premium of a beach-front or hillside-view address.
Barbati sits at the foot of Mount Pantokrator, its 1.5-km Blue Flag beach of white pebble and clear turquoise water backed by pine and olive slopes.
It is one of the more family-oriented resorts of the north-east — a proper organised beach with loungers, showers and a good spread of tavernas and beach bars.
The public Barbati beach offers paddleboarding, kayaking and boat hire, and the seabed shelves quickly into deep clear water good for swimming and snorkelling.
From here the north-east is easy touring — Nissaki and Mitsos taverna to the north, Kalami and the White House, and Kassiopi's harbour and castle within a half-hour's drive.
